Six young players that could be on the move in Europe this summer.
With the football season coming to a climax and all the early transfer talk about Memphis Depay and Paul Pogba. We take a look at six other young highly rated players that could get a possible transfer move this summer.
Having started his career at south London side Crystal Palace, he got a move in 2012 to then Premier League newcomers Southampton. The right back featured regularly under previous ‘Saints’ managers Nigel Adkins and Mauricio Pochettino but has excelled this season under current manager Ronald Koeman. Clyne has had many impressive games this campaign most noticeably in the League Cup against Arsenal. Having played with England at underage level, the defender made his debut for Roy Hodgson’s side last November against Slovenia at Wembley stadium. Although the twenty-four year old has stated he would like to stay at Southampton, do not rule out both Manchester clubs making a move for the full back this summer.
Volland currently plays for Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim. The winger made his debut for the club back in the 2012/2013 season. Since then, the twenty-two year old has been a regular starter for the German side. With his quick pace and trickery Volland has been a headache for many defenders in the Bundesliga this campaign. Having played for Germany at underage level he finally got a cap for the national side last May against Poland. Unfortunately for the player he was not part of Joachim Loew’s World Cup squad in Brazil. Although Volland is contracted to Hoffenheim until 2017, he is defiantly a player which will catch the eye of many English and German sides this transfer window.
Jose Luis Gaya
Gaya is a left back with Spanish outfit Valencia. The player is a product of the Valencia academy, following in the footsteps of previous players such as Manchester City playmaker David Silva. Gaya made his debut for the club back in 2012 in the Copa Del Rey. His first La Liga start came in April 2014 against last season’s champions Atletico Madrid. This campaign, the defender has been a regular starter at the Mestalla under coach Nuno Esp√rito Santo. Gaya is yet to receive a call up for the Spanish national side but with his talent it will not be long till he is lining out for la Roja. Having recently committed himself to a five year deal with Valencia do not rule out bids from Europe’s elite this summer.
Currently on the books of Ligue 1 side Olympique Lyonnais, Lacazette is a striker for Hubert Fournier’s side. At the age of 23 the forward has scored 51 goals in 137 appearances for the French side. He has been an influential part of Lyon’s title bid this season. Lacazette is currently the top scorer in France with 27 goals. The striker has played for France at under age level most noticeably part of the successful team that won the Uefa under-19 European championships in 2010. The player made his first appearance for the national side last June against Uruguay. If he keeps up his goal tally next season he will definitely be in with a shout of making Didier Deschamps Euro 2016 squad. With his keen eye for a goal he will be looked at by many English clubs this summer.
Quintero is a twenty two year old Columbian who plays as an attacking midfielder. Having had spells in his homeland and in Serie A he now ply his trade with Portuguese side FC Porto. He made his debut for the Dragoes in the Emirates cup back in 2013. The attacker has produced impressive performances for Porto in the Primeira Liga on more than one occasion this season. Quintero is one of South America’s most highly rated young players and was called up to Colombia’s squad for last year’s World Cup in Brazil. He featured in the win over African side Ivory Coast. The player was linked with a move to Arsenal last season which never followed through but prepare for the big sides from Italy/Spain and England to make a move for the player this transfer window.
Our final player on the list is French born playmaker Nabil Fekir. The twenty-one year old can play in midfield and also in attack. He is currently a teammate of Alexandre lacazette at Olympique Lyonnais. Fekir made his debut for the club back in 2013 in a 2-1 defeat to Evian. This season the player has shown his real talent scoring 12 goals with 9 assists for the club. Although Fekir is French born he is also eligible to play for his ancestral side Algeria. He was called up to the Algerian side last March but decided to withdraw and play for the country of his birth. With France not playing another competitive match until Euro 2016, prepare for a tug of war between the two nations for the player. Although the Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas stated that Fekir and team mate Lacazette where committed to the club for next season, do not rule out bids from England’s elite this summer.
